Wagg & Purr Carbonate 24g Activated Charcoal lines the intestinal wall and adsorbs toxins, limiting their absorption into the systemic circulation.

Contraindications:
Situations where activated charcoal is contraindicated or of little benefit:

  • Carbodote should not be administered if a patient has potential gastrointestinal injury or perforation or is likely to be presented for gastrointestinal surgery, or if there is either intestinal obstruction or recurrent vomiting.
  • It should not be administered by mouth if a patient has compromised airway protective reflexes or impaired consciousness.
  • Carbodote is contraindicated as a treatment for ingestion of corrosive substances (acids and bases), liquid hydrocarbons and surfactants.
  • Carbodote is unlikely to be of benefit in cases of ingestion of the following chemical groups:
            Alcohols, Inorganic salts, Metals, Organic solvents (e.g. acetone), Cyanides

Ingredients

Activated charcoal (24 g per 100 mL) in glycerine.

Activated charcoal (24 g per 100 mL) in glycerine.

Directions

For oral use. Best administered within 1 hour of toxin ingestion.
Shake bottle well before opening and using.
If possible and not contraindicated, first administer an emetic drug or perform gastrointestinal lavage.
Administer 5 mL of Carbodote per kg of bodyweight, orally or by a feeding tube.
If necessary, repeat every 4 to 6 hours for chemicals that are known to undergo enterohepatic cycling.
In cases of large volume ingestions, Carbodote dose may be increased to 20 mL/kg bodyweight.
For animal consumption only.
